Got your ticket to a (or maybe more…) Tidewater Event? Huzzah!

Now it’s time to start planning your visit. But don’t worry, we are here to help as much as we can. Below you’ll find handy resources to find the best places to stay and eat in Grimsby. Plus, information about our venue and anything else we think you might need to know:

Directions to The Venue

The Great Escape is located on Grimsby Docks. The Docks is accessible from the A180/M180 and A16, and we recommend using the map to the right for better directions.

For assistance, the full address of the venue is:

The Great Escape, 1 Auckland Rd, Grimsby, DN31 3RP

Arrival on the Docks

Grimsby Docks is owned and secured by ABP, and you will need to pass through the Security Gates to enter the Docks.

If you are stopped, don’t worry, simply tell Security you are visiting The Great Escape, and they will let you through. You may be asked for photographic ID; a valid driving licence is enough.

They will also be able to offer directions, if you are unsure where to go. However, once you have passed through the Security Gates, take the first exit (left) on the mini roundabout, with the derelict-looking Ice Factory on your left, drive until you reach a small car park. Look out for the painting of Steve McQueen on the doors.

There are plenty of parking bays across the street from The Great Escape. Please try not to park in the car park next door to the building, as this belongs to Alfred Enderby Smokehouse, which is open on Saturdays.

Caution should be taken when crossing the road, as the area is within a working dock, and some vehicles do travel very fast.

Getting The Right Door

Due to the original nature of the building, The Great Escape does have a lot of doors and it can be confusing which one to use.

If the Steve McQueen doors are open (typically in the warmer months), then feel free to come in this way. These doors are marked yellow to the left of the below photo. Otherwise, you can come in using the door marked in blue. There’s no need to ring the bell or knock, feel free to come on in.
